With the ongoing awareness of the need to “go green”, more businesses are doing their part to reduce, reuse and recycle. THE Gravel Doctor ® subscribes to the same principles of “green” technology by reducing the environmental impact of surface restoration. The rationale is explained below.

RECYCLING REDUCES ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:

Consider this scenario: a 450 horsepower dump truck takes 1.5 hours to complete a roundtrip delivery of a load of gravel to a homeowner’s driveway. In total the truck uses approximately 675 horsepower to accomplish the service.  To complete a one-hour surface restoration to repair the driveway, THE Gravel Doctor ® will use approximately 32 to 35 horsepower. Based on this scenario THE Gravel Doctor ® used just 5% of the power required just to deliver the stone.

Now consider the energy requirements it takes to acquire that rock from its original location               ( most likely from a remote rural location),   process it to an appropriate size for road and driveway use and then transport it to your location for your use.

For the stone ( gravel ) to be processed before it is transported the following steps are involved :

1. Trees have to be removed
2. Rock has to be drilled for blasting
3. Blasting repeatedly to reduce size to fit in crushers
4. Repeatedly loaded into crushers
5.  Repeatedly processed in the crushers
6. Transporting to storage areas
7. Stock piling
8. Loading into ships, railway cars or trucks for delivery to local storage areas
9. Loading trucks for final delivery

These steps require 1000’s of horsepower over many hours to complete!
